Florida agricultural license plate sales generate operating funds for Florida Ag in the Classroom, Inc. This program works in cooperation with classroom teachers to help elementary school students understand the vital role agriculture plays in their lives.

The Florida Legislature approved the Florida Agricultural License Plate ("Ag Tag") in 1997, with the support of Florida Farm Bureau, Florida Ag in the Classroom, Inc., Florida Fruit and Vegetable Association and other agricultural organizations.
