The 2004 Florida Farm Bureau Council of Presidents meeting will be held Dec. 8-9 in Gainesville. Sessions will be conducted at the University of Florida’s Hilton Hotel & Conference Center. The dinner on Dec. 8 will be held at the Florida Farm Bureau state office building.

Dudley Farm Historic State Park will hold a Cane Grinding Day on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. An auction will be held at 1 p.m. to benefit the farm.

Lowell Teal, executive director of the Orange County Farm Bureau, has written a novel set in Florida during the era of the Great Depression. Titled Bath Pond, the book has been published by Oakhill Press.

Every homeowner who has had a citrus tree removed as part of the citrus canker eradication effort is eligible for a $100 Shade Florida voucher.
The voucher can be redeemed at Wal-Mart garden centers for trees, plants, shrubs, sod and other garden related items. Vouchers issued this year before Nov. 1 are set to expire on
Dec. 31.
