Three Elected to Florida Farm Bureau State Women’s Committee

(ORLANDO, Fla.) - Three women were elected to the Florida Farm Bureau Federation’s State Women’s Committee at the Federation’s annual meeting Oct. 26-29 at the Coronado Springs Resort. Norma Jean Parrish of Jacksonville will represent District 4; Brittany Phypers of Lake Placid will represent District 6 and Carol Ann Swanson of Homestead will represent District 8.

“Women play an increasingly active role in agriculture and the activities our Farm Bureau Women undertake reflects that,” said FFBF President Carl B. Loop, Jr. “Our Women’s Committee coordinates activities that support Florida Farm Bureau’s overall agenda. That includes working to increase public awareness of agriculture’s contribution to the state’s economy and to the well-being of all of our citizens.”

Virginia Paarlberg of Lee chairs the state committee; Marilyn Grant of Ocala is vice chair. Both serve on the Florida Farm Bureau board of directors. Others serving on the state Women’s Committee include Mildred Taylor of DeFuniak Springs (District 1); Betty Poucher of Live Oak (District 2); Liz Cowart of Starke (District 3); Michelle Williamson of Sydney (District 5) and Jo Anne Bass (District 7).

Florida Farm Bureau Federation celebrated 63 years of service to agriculture this year. It is the largest independent agricultural organization in the state with more than 152,000 member-families, statewide. There are 61 county Farm Bureaus in Florida, where agriculture accounts for $62 billion in annual economic impacts across the state.
