Farm Bureau pays for new building at FFA Leadership Center

(GAINESVILLE, Fla.) - Florida Farm Bureau Federation (FFBF) and the Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Companies will deliver a check for $225,000 to the Florida FFA Foundation to fund construction of a villa at the Florida FFA Leadership Training Center, 5000 Firetower Road, near Haines City, Fla.

The Foundation provides more than 7500 awards, scholarships, meal events and travel funds to 14,000 FFA members throughout Florida. It also owns and operates the Leadership Training Center, which provides a place for chapter retreats, workshops, teacher training facilities and summer camps. The center has hotel-style accommodations as well as six villas, three complete with kitchens.

“Florida Farm Bureau is a strong supporter of FFA and other youth programs,” said Scottie Butler, FFBF general counsel and a member of the FFA Foundation board of directors. “We are pleased to team with the Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Companies to build this villa at the Leadership Training Center, which is one of the finest FFA centers in the nation.”

The Florida Farm Bureau Federation is the state's largest general-interest agricultural association with more than 150,000 member-families statewide. There are Farm Bureaus in 62 counties in Florida, where agriculture comprises a stable, vital leg of Florida's economy, rivaling the tourism industry in economic importance. Headquartered in Gainesville, the Federation is an independent, non-profit agricultural organization and is not associated with any arm of the government.
